4th June 1812: Arrest made for assassination of Sergeant Moore

On Thursday 4th June 1812, an arrest was made in the case of the assassination of Sergeant Moore that had taken place the previous month in Manchester.

The Leeds Mercury of 13th June had the details, saying that the arrest had taken place at a Post Office in Preston, where he had been lured to there by the interception of a letter by the authorities. Evidently, the un-named man thought he had been arrested for administering illegal oaths, and the article gave hints that his wife had somehow played a part in his capture.

As reported in the Leeds Mercury of 13th June 1812.
