13th November 1813: Frame-breaking returns to the Midlands in Wymeswold

Sometime on Saturday 13th November 1813 - ten months after the last attack, and on the second anniversary of the large action at Sutton-in-Ashfield in neighbouring Nottinghamshire - a number of stocking frames were broken by Luddites in Wymeswold, Leicestershire. The case of the complaint was the employment of 'Colts' or non-apprenticed labourers.

This is from Thomis (1970, p.181). This appears to be one of the more obscure Luddite actions, as Thomis does not credit his source, and he appears to be the only author that mentions this event. As I write, I have not had access to the Nottingham newspapers to check for more detail, and the only Leicestershire newspaper I have access to, the Leicester Journal, does not mention it.
